On one of recent walks we've noticed deer type animals, not as big as deer but similar colouring and features. Can anyone here advise on what type of wild animal we have seen?

Vlad is correct. They are Muntjacs and they are a deer. Despite them being common around these parts I have never seen one.

We can't catch them Brian so we don't cook them

We've seen one running around our street - it was very fast. We also get foxes (by the dozen) - do you see foxes in your road Badminton Girl?

People have told me in the past they've seen deer around the A40, but I've not seen any myself.

Interesting, that BBC article says they're very hard to spot but their "loud barking call" could give them away. I've heard a lot of loud barking calls in the evenings recently.
