Looking like an epic fail again today !

Forecast for today is a high of between 18°C and 20°C and it's currently 5°C at 11:30

I could be wrong but I just can't see it

^^ It looked that way for much of the morning Kremm but once the fog cleared temperatures picked up quite nicely in some places.

Gravesend reported 19.0c, St James Park 17.6c, and both Heathrow and Northolt managed 16.4c in the end.

Unfortunately it looks like all going downhill just in time for the weekend, with temperatures taking a dip, and a very high chance of some much needed rain for most of us in London and the South East. Saturday is currently looking like being the wettest day, and Sunday the coldest of the two.

Early signs though that high pressure will again build over the UK early next week, pretty much bringing a repeat of what we have had this week.

More details to follow later. Moley 8-)

Indeed.... the weather made the kind of comeback Chelsea would be proud of.

Is it a Bank Holiday weekend there then ? We have just had the Annual Spring Break where the Schools shut for a week; really mild for this time of year and the local ski slopes were packed.
Average temp's should be 3 or 4 c; we hit 16 c one day.

Now THAT comeback was beyond epic Jon.....I am still on Cloud 9.....there, I've disclosed my allegiance :D

Not a Bank Holiday here GMR, just another weekend where the weather threatens to take a turn for the worse, before improving again from the beginning of the ( normal ) working week. I will say the potential rainfall totals for London and The South East continue to drop though, from 15-20mm's initialy to 5mm's most recently. In a way thats a bad thing as it would be nowhere near enough to help with the water shortage, but just enough to make for a cold, damp and fairly unpleasant weekend.

Temperatures have remained very steady for a good few hours, ranging only from 8.1c to 9.3c at Northolt in the last 14 hours. These are about the maximums we are likely to see over the course of the weekend as well. There is a slight risk of some heavier bursts of rain once the main front has passed through our region, coupled with a VERY slight risk of the odd rumble of thunder on Sunday.

It still seems that high pressure will again begin to build early next week, bringing another settled ( and dry ) spell of weather
for next week. It could well be a 'cloudy/dirty high ', so Im not expecting anything exciting in the way of temperatures.

Whatever the weather, have a great weekend, and thanks for reading and posting.

The usual state of play is a dry weekend.

I go out and wash and polish the car and place in the garage.

First thing Monday morning it rains and by the time I've got to the other end of the By-Pass I needn't have bothered washing it in the first place. By Tuesday the weather is dry again but the 'damage' is done :(

^^ Hi and welcome BG, and please feel free to contribute any time.

You just haven't got the hang of this car washing ritual have you Kremm ??!!

On a wider note, The National Hurricane Centre have just released an early statement for the coming Tropical Storm season, and I will try and keep an eye on that during the next few months.

Well I have recorded a paltry 0.9mm of rainfall here in Northwood today ( Saturday ), which is a fraction of what was being suggested by the model runs a few days ago, and the temperature was higher than I was expecting, reaching 11.0c at Northolt.

That said, reports I've seen confirm some locations further south had lower temperatures and more in the way of rainfall, particularly along the South Coast. Sunday is still undecided, even at this late stage but there is an increased chance of localised brief but heavy showers and the odd rumble of thunder in our region.
