As per my earlier post on Monday, stand by for a rude awakening as we head towards the weekend.

Official Met Office temperatures at Heathrow so far this week have been:

Mon Sept 2nd: 26.2c
Tue Sept 3rd: 26.0c
Wed Sept 4th: 28.5c

At 3pm today ( Thursday ) it's currently 28.8c (84f ) but tomorrow will see a dramatic change with maximum temperatures possibly as low as 16c ( 61F ) in our region. Couple that with the potential for heavy rainfall and it's an altogether different picture to the weather of the last few days.

On a weather related note the horrendous crash on the Sheppey Crossing in Kent this morning should serve as a timely reminder. It's the UK, we get fog in Autumn, yet people still drive like maniacs despite the warnings. It doesn't take a genius to realise that fog tends to form over water at this time of year and can reduce visibilty to almost zero in patches. Thankfully this incident didn't result in carnage, but that's probably more a result of safety features built into vehicles than common sense by those driving them.

Yep, hot again.

Hopefully cooler today.

Apparently, according to the met office it's been raining here since 03:00. I must have dodged all the drops when putting the bin bags out.

We've had a few raindrops here in Cowley.

I'm just going to the local baker's for some rolls so I hope the rain holds off till I get back

:D

What a difference a day makes. Yesterday Heathrow recorded 29.5c and Raf Northolt 29.7c. Today both Met Office sites have hovered just below 16c. That's quite a contrast in just 24 hours. ( 85f versus 60f ). :(

The Low Pressure system responsible for this change is showing a tendency to be more of a nuisance than originally thought. Up until last night the computer models were suggesting it would scoot off over the weekend and allow High Pressure to build bringing a return to something more settled at the start of next week. That now looks less likely.

The Low seems to want to hang around in The North Sea for much of next week, delivering a lot more in the way of cloud, outbreaks of rain and a cool northerly breeze to our region. It was nice while it lasted.

Thanks as always for reading and posting, and have a good weekend whatever the weather.

Just a very brief post from me. Stand by for the first 'proper' Autumn storm this weekend with Low Pressure in charge.

Here in London and The South East we should escape the worst of it but it's going to be an unsettled few days. Sunday to Tuesday currently looking rather wet and windy at times.

Edited by Moley: It's thoroughly wet and miserable out there this evening. Saturday should see a slight improvement before it goes downhill again. Rainfall totals could exceed the September monthly average in the next 4 days alone.

The prospects do look slightly better towards the end of the month though and I will hopefully be posting more details about that nearer the time.

Our dog has just refused to go out in the garden even though it's just a bit of drizzle this morning.

I'm off out to buy a paper in a minute so I'll find out what the temperature is like (I'm not a wimp like our mutt)

Put its bowl out and see whether hunger gets to win :)

On second thoughts I probably won't because it seems the few folk who take the time and trouble to read and/or reply to my posts are about to leave this website anyway, for reasons totally unconnected with this topic.

Weather websites I can recommend for future reference are :

Netweather.tv

The Weather Outlook.com

Ukweather world.co.uk

I am a member of all 3 and they are all free to register, join and post on. Netweather.tv in particular is a very friendly site that covers all topics, not just weather. It also has regional forums. If you want further information about any of those websites please feel free to PM me.

Thank you for all your past support. I wish you all the best whatever the weather.

Blimey Moley.

What's happened? Who is going? Have I missed something?

I am sorry that you feel that way, but obviously I respect your decision. I for one will miss your insight and accurate (well, 99%!!) local forecasts.

Thanks for the links
