Lets be honest, it can't get much worse can it ?

Having said that there are some tentative signs that the weather may gradually improve beyond the weekend.

I'll help it along by not washing the car then.

I'm reading reports of people up North on other forums and it's a nightmare up there with loads of cars damaged by ridge tiles, etc

I think we'd appreciate that Kremmen !

For London and The South East all eyes are now on yet another weather system approaching our shores, and it looks as though our region could be right in the firing line once more. Gales and heavy rain are the last thing needed, but the Met Office warnings are out there now :

Friday night into Saturday is probably the peak time for some very strong winds, especially along the South Coast. Rainfall totals are also something that needs watching.

Your prediction of this weekend possibly being the end of this conveyor belt of storms has been echoed by the BBC weatherman this morning.

Lets hope your both right so the clean up can begin.

I couldn't agree more Kremmen. Tonights storm is apparently the 31st significant weather system to hit the UK since mid December 2013, on average one every other day and the majority of those have affected our region in particular.

The signs are that whilst there will be more spells of unsettled weather in the week or so ahead, they should be less volatile than the events of the last 2 months.

Winds have been increasing since about 5pm in much of the South East, the latest gust speeds from the Met Office stations at Heathrow and Northolt recording gusts of 53-55mph over the last 2 hours. The peak is still yet to reach us.

Down on the South Coast gusts in excess of 60-70mph are now being quite widely reported. Conditions should gradually improve from around 3-6am Saturday morning.

Be careful out there folks.

Moley. :|

Thanks for the info Moley. I had wondered what wind speeds had reached locally

Can you recall what speeds were reached in London in the 87 storm (aka Hurricane Fish :D )
