Lots of views but no comments. Perhaps it is indeed time to hang up the seaweed.

Snowing now in Northwood though. I got that one spot on !!

No comments are better than bad ones. Keep going, you're doing a good job. Thank you. :) :)

Much obliged for your post and comment Batty bat. Odd though it may seem, I have no problem at all with bad comments, as long as they are constructive and/or humorous !

Well the snow has been falling here for several hours now, but very little in the way of accumulation. It was always going to be a marginal event. I'll be taking a look at the prospects for the rest of the week later.

Thanks for reading and posting. Moley 8-)

**UPDATED SUNDAY FEBRUARY 10TH 2012 @ 23:00 hours

North West London seems to be amongst the prime location for snow tonight. Its been snowing non-stop for over 6 hours here now, and I would say this is probably the heaviest and most consistent snowfall of the winter so far.

Another swathe of snow seems to be heading our way from the English Channel in the next few hours, but with temperatures and dew points hovering just above 0c ( 32f ) its more than likely we will wake up in the morning to nothing more than a thin layer of slush.

All the same, be careful out there. Moley 8-)

But Jane...I predicted it last Thursday, and admittedly I was a few hours out, but I updated my prediction again Sunday morning !!

Its still throwing it down here and settling, but see my latest update for the slush in the morning.

Thanks for posting. Moley 8-)

lol .... you certainly did predict it Moley - it was me who mistakenly thought it would be a short spell of light sleet and with the dismal rain all day I thought the snow had missed us ? It seemed one minute it was raining heavily and the next my black dog just turned white with snow :) It is settling here - glad it's not freezing or it would be nasty by morning .....

Yep....exactly what I predicted Jane. the rain would readily turn to sleet and/or snow in some parts of London and The South East. Hope the Dawgie is not too traumatised !

**UPDATED MONDAY FEBRUARY 11TH 2013 @ 04:00 Hours**

It has now been snowing non stop for 11 hours in some parts of our region, and North West London has seen some of the heaviest snowfall during this time.

Temperatures and dew points remained close to 0c ( 32f ) in the London area throughout the night, so accumulations of snow are lower than I would expect from this amount and intensity of snowfall. 2-5 cms ( 1-2" ) seems to be the average reported so far.

All main roads in the LBH appear to be clear at this time, but most, if not all, side roads have NOT been gritted. Further afield the worst affected areas appear to be Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire. Counties to the south of London are less affected.

Any remaining snow showers are expected to turn to sleet/rain later this morning, before dying out.

Please tune in to local forecasts and traffic reports if you are planning to travel today.

Moley

Looks like most of the snow has now melted and my trip to Surrey this morning was met with some rather large puddles left behind.

Thanks for posting Kremmen. According to most reports Ive seen the rain south of London turned to snow much later than it did to the north, in some parts of Surrey it didn't snow at all apparently. It has only just stopped snowing here in Northwood, 20 hours after it started. **

The fact that most surfaces are now pretty much clear of snow shows just how marginal the temperatures were during that time. The snow was pretty intense for much of the night here yet I only recorded a level depth of 5cms ( 2" ). By my calculations IF the temperature and
dew point had been 1 or 2 degrees lower we would have woken up this morning to roughly 30-40 cms ( 12-16" ) of level snow. The highest total I have heard reported so far is 13.5cms ( 5 1/2" ) in High Wycombe.

** Just started snowing again as I type.

Fortunately it's not 'sticking' and the temperature is holding up.
