Has the canal frozen over yet?
I wasn't game (stupid?) enough to try walking on it but I remember when they used an ice-breaker barge to open it up.
:)

It should be safe for a few days at least Jon. I will try and update later this week, but at the moment Im having other things to deal with.

I apologise if my predictions fall by the wayside for a while, but I thank you all for reading and posting in the meantime.

It looks like staying fairly mild for the next few days at least down here in London and the South East.

Sorry folks but thats the best I can do at the moment, a serious illness in the immediate family is taking up most of my time right now. Im more than happy for others to contribute and keep this topic alive in the meantime though.

Thanks for reading and posting as always. Moley :(

^^ That will change this weekend Brian, for much of Scotland and perhaps Northern England as well for a time.

Down here in London and the South East a cold front moving south during Saturday will lead to a spell of rain later on Saturday, and colder air flowing in behind it. After an overnight frost in rural areas Sunday looks like being a colder day with sunny spells and the occasional blustery shower. Temps of around 6-8c for us I think. Monday could see more of the same, before milder weather returns towards the middle of the week.

There is a hint that temperatures may reach 15-16c ( 60f ) by next weekend, but Im hedging my bets on that for now.

Thanks Moley, I hope they get good snow, they've come a long way for it.

Whereabouts in Scotland are they Brian ?? That will make a difference to their snow prospects.

You could check the Met Office or BBC forecasts, but personally I prefer dedicated weather websites like Netweather.tv

Its free to register and use, and has the added advantage of live regional threads giving up to date information on the spot.

They will be in Edinburgh/Glasgow this weekend and going down to London on Thursday, flying home next Sunday.
