The weather forecast on the telly said the same thing. It's bound to get colder though as I am off to the New Forest on Saturday. Still, at least I have sunglasses :D

Have a good weekend in the New Forest Sunshine :)

What a difference a day makes. 22c/72f yesterday......11c/52f today.

The natural world seems to have responded well to a few days warmth though. Trees and shrubs which were barren and in a near catatonic winter state just a week ago have suddenly sprung into life around here.

We were talking about that this morning while on our walk - blossom seems to have appeared on the trees almost overnight - it's about time too!

Hopefully, winter is behind us now :D

Thanks for posting this Jane, what was the location please ?

There seems to have been a procession of isolated but heavy showers crossing the London area for most of this afternoon and evening, moving from north east to south west. The skies here have been threatening at times, but apart from a few seconds of hail, it all seems to have been just south of my location.

I have seen two impressive rainbows though, and last nights near full moon was quite spectacular when it was rising above the horizon. It could be a similar display tonight if the cloud continues to break up.

Hi Moley - this was Hayes/Northolt area. In minutes the ground was covered in ice - it looked like snow. Then it rained a little before the sun shone again and you'd never know it happened :)

Thanks for those reports folks, they are useful to have when I am posting on weather forums about local weather conditions. Please keep them coming. Just to add though I only report the type of weather and location, I don't copy and paste your reports.

The rest of this week is now looking quite favourable for outdoor work and window/door replacement. Whilst it will still be a little on the chilly side (12-15c ...54-59f ) it should remain mostly dry for much of our region, with some sunny spells from time to time. Still a risk of frost though.

Thanks for that Moley. Windows and doors will be replaced Tuesday - Thursday so I'm crossing my fingers for no rain.

Where I went in the New Forest was a town called Totton and that's where it was hailing. It was just really cold for the rest of the day - brrr!

Its turning out to be a far better week than I originally thought for most of London and some parts of the South East.

Temperatures are slightly higher, reaching 16-18c ( 61-64f ) in places, but its the dryness of the air that has been the standout point in the last couple of days. Relative Humidity has been recorded as low as 14% at Heathrow and Northolt, putting it on a par with some of the dryest desert regions in the world.

UV levels are also well above average, 3-5 is about the norm for the Uk at this time of year, but I have seen some reports of UV levels at 6-7 in the last few days. It was probably a bad time to have my head shaved !!

The prospects for The Bank Holiday Weekend are showing some promising signs as well. More to follow.
