Good afternoon all and I trust you enjoyed and made the most of the very pleasant Bank Holiday Weekend weather ? That's 2 decent Bank Holidays in a row now, and given the fact how poor this year has been so far, not far short of a miracle.

Today is pretty much as predicted......atrocious. Heavy persistent rain under slate grey skies and 12c ( 54f ) at Raf Northolt, just 3 days away from the official start of summer 2013. :(

I am still hanging my hopes on things slowly improving by the weekend, and there are still some signs that it will amongst the computer models. As has so often been the case in recent months though, that confidence slowly evaporates as we head into what I call the 'reliable time frame' ( 3-5 days ).

The Jet Stream has been doing some strange things for a while now, and that looks like continuing for the forseeable future. Generally speaking it should be heading north at this time of year, and guiding the worst of the weather systems to the north of the UK. This year it has remained way to the south, and the latest charts show it breaking in 2, with one section over North Africa and the other section pretty much over Iceland.

All in all I am leaning towards the belief that we are seeing a change in our weather patterns, ( and have been seen since 2006/07 to be honest ) and the computer models can't handle it. One thing I do know.....its playing havoc with making forecasts and predictions, even local ones !!

Moley :?

I think Kremms car washing, Sunshines outside painting, and Janes gardening are far more reliable indicators of the weather forecast than anything I can come up with to be honest !!

It's not 11.30 yet and it's raining already. At least we've been out with the dog so he's had his long walk today.

It's nearly the end of May - when is spring going to arrive (I'm fed up with the weather now)

I left work last October and was looking forward to my first long summer at home and it's taking ages to arrive.

I feel your pain Sunshine.

The Official Spring months as defined by the Met Office are March/April/May. It looks set to be one of the coldest Springs on record.

The Official start of Summer is this Saturday....June 1st. The forecast for the first few days at least looks quite reasonable. Fingers crossed.

Edited by Moley. Not sure why I thought June the 1st was on Friday. Ooops :?

Good. Hubby wants to work in the garden so we could do with some dry weather.

What about Saturday - I'm due to go to the New Forest to visit my grandchildren.

Saturday looks ok Sunshine. Dry and reasonably warm ( 16-18c/61-64f....possibly a degree or 2 higher ). No wall to wall sunshine but some decent sunny intervals should make it pleasant enough in light winds. Have a great day.
