Actually thinking about it, with sunset being around 9.15pm for the next few days you may not have to stay up that late Sunshine. If conditions are right ( and they have to be just right )they are usually visible from about 20-30 minutes after sunset, and become clearer as the night sky darkens. You need to look in the general direction of west/northwest. Looking at current conditions I think the skies are a little too hazy this evening, but I will be looking out for them anyway.

Weatherwise it looks as though Raf Northolt was the warmest place in the country today with an official 26.5c ( 80f ) recorded there, so this summer spell is off to a flying start.

Thanks as always folks, and have a great weekend. Moley 8-)

Cheers Brian. The conditions during the week might just favour the Aussies, and I think this series will be a lot closer than many thought !!

The official highest temperature I can find for the UK so far today is 27.5c (81.5f ) at Heathrow, though a very reliable weather station in Watford is reporting 28c ( 82f ), same as the temperature being shown on the top right corner of this website. I asked the other day, but does anyone ( site admin ? ) know where this reading is taken from because it seems very accurate.

Enjoy the weekend folks. Moley 8-)

We don't need any rain yet!

So you'll just have to get the broom out and sweep it up

No rain in sight for a good while yet down in our neck of the woods Kremm. Can't we just enjoy this glorious spell of weather without wishing it away after just 3 days :?: :!:

Heathrow at 29.5c was just pipped into 2nd place as the warmest spot in the UK by Hurn airport ( Bournemouth ) which recorded 29.7c on Sunday. Monday should see similar temperatures with a slight cooling taking place midweek. Next weekend could well see the mercury rising again as the Azores High seems reluctant to leave us.

I'm happy with that. Moley 8-)

What a wonderfully warm and sunny weekend that was. The prospects for the rest of this month look quite favourable with High Pressure never too far away.

We will see a slight cooling during the middle of the week but I've seen some suggestions that temperatures may start soaring again next weekend as high as 32-34c ( 90-94f ). Thats a long way off so I have my doubts about that.

For the next few days though it's going to remain warm and mostly dry, some eastern regions seeing a bit more in the way of cloud so west is best.
