Yes, it looks like we aren't due to see the fire and brimstone forecast earlier.

However, even a single droplet causes M25 chaos

I still think the worst of todays weather is much further west Kremm but....the Met Office rainfall predictions look pretty grim in our region from this afternoon into this evening if you run through the sequence on the link below :

Which for some reason I cannot seem to link and post.

I don't often criticise the Met Office, but quite frankly their web site leaves a lot to be desired.

I wish they would just concentrate on forecasts.

Moley :(

The current Met Office desktop weather app is showing horrendous conditions over Devon and Cornwall and moving ENE :o

I see Karen became a named Tropical Storm earlier today Rexy. Current thinking is that while it MAY reach Cat 1 hurricane status, there is also a reasonable chance it will weaken before making landfall.

Good luck. Moley 8-)

Gonna try and take advantage of this one, my boat got washed up in the back yard last years storm it's too heavy to move, so if the water comes up with this one I will float it back into the bayou, fishing in the lake again if I am lucky.

Update and feedback regarding the Met Office warning of possible thunderstorms and torrential rain I posted the other day.

You may well be wondering what all the fuss was about in our neck of the woods, with just an occasional shower since Thursday evening for most of us in The London area. A few miles to our east and west though it was a different story.

Some very active thunderstorms arrived along the South Coast from late afternoon Thursday, and for the next few hours these storms swarmed roughly east/north east. If you draw a line from Brighton to The Wash pretty much everywhere east of that line witnessed lightning, and the further east you were the more spectacular the display, accompanied by booming thunder and torrential downpours. Kent, Essex and East Anglia saw the best ( or worst depending on your viewpoint ) of it.

Later in the night it was the turn of Dorset and Somerset as another swathe of storms headed north from the South Coast.

The other notable feature was the remarkably mild overnight temperatures. Heathrow recorded a minimum of 16.2c, and that was under completely clear skies at 2am. That would be reasonable in July and August, but quite unusual for October.

The weather is expected to settle down again for the next few days, with High Pressure once again taking charge.

Have a good weekend and thanks for reading. Moley 8-)
