Tenby. I am off to visit my mum

Hope the weather holds out for you I remember not so long back when they closed the bridges due to falling lumps of ice falling on cars.

I remember that as well BG. I think it happened several times during that winter.

I don't remember that happening. I went last month with one of my sons and the minute we crossed the bridge it started raining. It nearly always rains when I hope to Wales

All that rain is the reason for the green green grass of home that Tom Jones sang about Sunshine.

***UPDATED WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 20th @ 0930 hrs***

A cold front associated with this low pressure system could produce a very brief spell of lively weather across our region as it moves south, possibly developing a 'squall line' feature.

http://ww2010.atmos.uiuc.edu/%28Gl%29/g ... quall.rxml

Timing is far from certain but current estimates are for the cold front to reach the London area later this morning, heading south east and clearing the South Coast later this afternoon.

As a result, some locations in our region may experience a brief spell of very gusty winds, sporadic lightning and heavy rainfall and or/small hail. Squall lines in the UK tend to be very brief affairs, usually lasting between 5 - 15 minutes.

***UPDATED WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 20th @ 1145 hours***

The squall front has just reached the London area in the last few minutes, accompanied by thunder, squally winds and now wet snow is falling on the back edge of the cold front. Similar conditions now being reported quite widely across the London area on several websites.

Expect the temperatures to fall quite rapidly as the front clears away to the south of us.

Yep, as expected the temperature dropped quite rapidly after the squall line passed through.
It went from 6.6c ( 44f ) to 2.6c ( 37f ) in 20 minutes. Brrrr indeed.

I haven't got as far as looking at next weeks predictions that you and Kremm asked about yet, but give me a few hours and I will research it further.

Ok. I have now had a chance to look further ahead and if it's benign and quiet weather you want it looks like you are in luck.

Low Pressure is now slipping away from the UK and by Friday we should see High Pressure building, leading to a spell of settled weather for most of the country. While there may be some localised variations, the overall theme for the next 7 days is one of 'nothing much happening'.

I see very little in the way of rainfall, no snow, no gales, no storms, no anything really apart from a chance of overnight frost and fog where cloud cover clears, allowing temperatures to fall. Daytime maximum temperatures are likely to be near or slightly below average in London and The South East at around 7-9c ( 45-48f ).

I think the worst we can expect in our region for the foreseeable future is a blanket of anticyclonic gloom ( that's cloud to you and me ), though there may be brighter spells at times.

As a weather geek it's the worst kind of 'weather' but I think it should please anyone planning activities and travel in the next week or so.

Thanks for reading and posting. Moley. 8-)
