Apparently not....in Dawlish anyway, according to this recent BBC report.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-26042990

From all the regular updates and on the spot reports and information I am currently seeing, conditions are pretty grim for a large swathe of the South West/South Coast and South East.

The Met Office have this morning updated and upgraded their weather warnings for much of the South East, they were previously Yellow status ( Be aware ), now upgraded to Orange status. ( Be prepared ). These warnings are valid from now until at least Saturday as of now, and if you live in area prone to flooding I would advise folk to regularly check the Met Office website for the latest information.

Yes I spotted that change earlier.

The amber wind warning has expired at 15:00 but we now have an amber warning of rain from 15:00 tomorrow all the way through to 23:00 on Saturday.

Now getting bad.

My garage guttering drains into the garden soakaway. This morning the gutter is full and overflowing slightly.

I assume that the ground is now full. No major rain forecast till Sunday so hopefully will drain a little.

I'm not sure where you got that idea from Kremmen and I hope you are right but the Met Office don't go along with it, their warnings are still valid until 2300 hours Saturday for much of our region.

After what will hopefully be a brief but very welcome dry and bright few hours today ( Friday ) for London and The South East, the next Atlantic system is already approaching the UK with yet more in the way of wind and rain late Friday and into Saturday.

Moley. :(

Raf Northolt recorded another 23mm's ( just under an inch ) of rain in the 24 hours between 0600 Thursday and 0600 Friday and that led to flooding problems on the A40 at Hillingdon and the M25/M40 Junctions just past Denham earlier this morning.

I was in Old Amersham on Friday and what a mess

At the far end, the river Misbourne which (runs around the back of the village) had over topped and was running down the High Street and through about 15/20 shops. A manhole cover outside the historic Eagle pub had lifted and was pouring water into the pub's cellar. The fire service were valliantly (but perhaps rather stupidly) trying to pump out the pub - but gave up.

At the other end of the High St, the large Jaguar garage was also flooded with more fire crews in dry suits working there. OK, it was nowhere near as bad as other parts of the UK as I have seen on the TV, but shocking nonetheless to see it happening somewhere I know fairly well

Good morning folks and thanks for the recent posts by Jon, Kremmen and Sot.

It's been a breezy night here in our region though mostly dry in the London area. Just to our south some hefty showers rattled through Sussex overnight, with a number of reports of thunder and lightning accompanied by hail in the early hours.

Whilst the main concern is obviously and rightly concentrated on the worst affected areas down in the South West, it seems to be going almost unnoticed that flooding is also a problem in London and the Home Counties. Thats why your local reports and updates are so important. Please keep them coming.

More to follow later. Moley. :(
