Labour had numerous amnesty schemes for illegals in their 13 years in power. The Tories promised to reduce immigration even made a manifest promise then did naff all about it.
They are not interested in dealing with it. Immigration = growth, its one of the things which keeps the plates spinning and the insurmountable levels of debt falling off those plates. More people chasing ever decreasing numbers of houses = house price inflation = keeps the proles happy so they tolerate it.
It's all part of the game all governments are addicted to it..
