How are they going to get over the pollution that is already above EU limits?

Gridlock looming and opening up Hayes won't make any difference.

Glad I don't commute any more.

Here we go again......

More positive news Boris is against it and Zac Goldsmith – the Tories’ star mayoral candidate, confirms this morning that he will resign his seat if the government presses ahead with with recommendations. “It’s a pledge of course I’d honour,” he tells LBC

http://order-order.com/2015/07/01/zac-a ... p0OybCnX_Q

So the Government has a dilemma..

Could pressing the issue be Cameron's downfall and the emergence of Boris as PM? That's a wait and see.

What I find most enlightening is the local Socialist MP finds himself in the same camp as a particularly right wing mayor.

In other news Crossrail is due soon. They will want to make the most from that investment and that includes Heathrow. On the plus side Hayes is already seeing improvements from that.

Hammersmith and the Bush used to be working class borough's 30 years ago, they are now very much upwardly mobile. I see Hayes going the same way in the next 20 or so years.... Young professionals will want property given the proximity and quick travel times crossrail gives them to the city and financial districts in Canary Wharf.

This is going to be an interesting issue to watch play out. It puts Cameron on a direct collision course with Mayor Johnson.

I think expanding Heathrow makes sense. And if Boris thinks the majority of his constituents are opposed he could well be wrong. Ditto John McDonnell.

Majority in Hayes would be against it if it ( it won't of course) came to a referendum. Although I can see the economic benefits they do not outweigh the environmental ones for the local communities.

Lets face it the majority want lox cost air travel provided like Ryanair and Easyjet, just the sort of airlines which will never be allowed to use LHR. The only thing really in it for the locals is the potential for increased jobs.

5 terminals and 3 runways would be 10 terminals and 8 runways 50 years from now at some point the tail starts wagging the dog.

Why should the local people have to suffer noise and breathe bad air to shore up the market positions of a Spanish owned Company like BAA?

Perversely McDonnells best chance of scuppering this plan lies with a Tory Mayor who maybe has designs on 10 Downing Street and his Tory potential replacement. If a Labour mayor is elected then there is every chance it will go ahead....

Edit to add. Strange to see them on the same platform....

I think Hayes is too far north to be affected just yet apart from pollution and traffic.

As has been said quite a few times there will now be decade(s) of legal wrangling. I feel sorry for the residents of the villages who have unsaleable properties, subject to some gamblers who may offer below market rate to cash in on the 125% compo being touted.

If they offered me 125% of market value I'd move. Somewhere between Reading and Malvern I reckon.

There's no noise in Hayes from Heathrow.

Presumably they think it's a done deal and they now want to discourage traffic.

I was surprised to see that after all the £millions spent on this Airport Commission's report, its not binding and the Govt can still do what they like. So what was the point??

I suppose the only benefit (for some) is that it gives Cameron wiggle room for a U turn on his "no ifs, no buts" lie

It was always gunna be Heathrow. Big business want it and big business fund Tory policy. With now Lib Dem brake, its a done deal
