My motivation was to give Mr. Cooper his deserved credit. Thanks Phil, you have reminded me why I left Hayes and why I have no intention of ever going back. Incidentally, my choice of nome de plume was chosen because the actor behind Sergeant Bilko- Phil Silvers - shares my first name. Yes, I'm Phil too (and also agnostic)

I was in the 'leccys at Nestle's, along with the plumbers and brickies we all shared the same workshop building.

It was a long time ago. Do you remember the "We try harder" badges? in different languages too? Christmas parties for Nestle's employees and their families were fun as a kid. Free chocolate! I will always remember that when we smelt coffee it would rain soon after on the Hayes Park area. I grew up in Mansfield Drive... down wind from the factory.

I grew up there as most of my family worked there since the war, all the Xmas parties, socials and sports days, practically lived in the club.
My dad was in the pipefitters and also on social committees, mum was in the de-molding, several aunts, uncles, cousins and my brother made sure I behaved.

Good point. I've moved it there, along with a picture of Hayes Station in which you can see what I believe was to become the Nestlé's factory, under construction!
