I have always said, when you are in a hole, stop digging, but alas our admin don't think so.

I have never, ever bought any premium bonds, I couldn't see the point as nobody I knew seemed to win anything on them.

I think there's a lot more point than buying a lottery ticket. At least you can always have your money back! My dad's got the maximum number you can have and has worked out the the small prizes he's won have beaten keeping the money in a building society.

I've had a £1 bond an aunt bought when I was little, which has never won any thing. I also bought £200 worth about 5 years ago and I've had one win of £25.

Dad's convinced (from experience) that recently-bought bonds stand a better chance of winning and has sometimes sold some back and bought new ones.

I keep hearing that it's not worth buying them unless you're in the 40% income tax bracket. I am still looking out for somewhere to stash some money where it will get 10% interest (that's how much the tax man thinks you earn on savings)

£25 on £200 isn't bad though

I also have some from the 50's early 60's. I won something small about about 10 years ago. I think it was about £10.
