Lots about to happen in Hayes over the next few years:

Will be a different town when all these projects are completed

I know the bright side is always more attractive to look on, but High Point Village is there already, their advertising and website carefully avoid any allusion to the dross that surround it, plus the fact two recent Operation Trident murder suspects (separate cases) were living there and the general shabbiness of the outside of the buildings balconies lends a clue that it's not exactly a magnet for Simon and Amanda types. The StayCity apartments hotel is the only thing I like about the place, it's brought people that resemble normal human beings to use the Station.

£4.5m might sound like a lot of money but in reality the effects would be negligible, smarter, glossier looking Fried Chicken shops, bookmakers and poundstores, can't wait.

Crossrail though is seriously beneficial, won't have to mess around with the underground at Paddington anymore and a projected house price boom that'll enable me to GTFO out of 'ayes permanently. Bring it on !

Yes, it is strange to see normal looking people appear from the 'luxury hotel' by the train station in the morning sometimes. I wish that they hadn't made it a grey building, looks really drab against a grey overcast sky. Also, the two sixties tower blocks opposite, one being the YMCA hostel, don't exactly do much to improve the image of the local area. Let's hope High Point Village doesn't become a Skeffington Court...

The two big projects are the Cross Rail and the Old Vinyl Factory. By 2017/18 Hayes will be 22 minutes away from Bond Street, which might help to draw in young professionals looking for somewhere affordable to buy within commutable distance to Central London.

Unfortunately £4.5m probably won't go very far trying to spruce up the high street. Personally I think they should remove the band stand and let traffic through again. Which area of Hayes do you think is the worst part? Do you think he problem with Hayes is solely to do with its demographic?

They could almost have 2 x one way systems where they could open up the road behind Argos to all traffic and remove the bandstand. I doubt it would get that busy (famous last words) due to the by-pass.

The town should never have been pedestrianised. It was a big mistake.

That's true. It's not one thing or the other, the worst of both worlds.

Well, turns out we're probably getting another Lidl:

http://www.getwestlondon.co.uk/news/local-news/lidl-reveal-plans-second-hayes-6174120

So now we'll have an Asda, Wilkinsons, Lidl and a Tesco Express in Hayes Town, is there any point in actually having a high street?
