Workmen were attacking one of the vicious bumps in Charville Lane with pneumatic drills this morning. Has sanity broken out?

No, they are likely going to replace the humps with a 4 foot deep trench

That's what I had in mind. Even in my wildest dreams I wouldn't expect them to actually reduce the OTT number of rotten bumps, but it's at least something that someone, somewhere, realised the bumps were far too severe. I saw a police van with blues and twos on the other day having to slow down for each one... have they given that any thought I wonder???

Just been down Charville Lane. I think they might possibly be making the bumps WORSE. The ramps were rounded, they're making them flat at a sort of 45 degree angle. Don't know what the science is and what the effect will be.

Tough luck if you happen to be in an ambulance, with a severe back injury, with any luck you may end up paralyzed, cant help admiring the forethought of the planners,

If, it was rounded and now a flat angle going and back down. If would make a more comfortable ride, providing you were going slow. Plus, it would probably do less damage to your suspension.

And yes, it would be better I suppose. If they were not there.

To be fair, LBH do consult with the emergency services prior to speed ramps being installed, but then seemingly ignore their responses!!! When I was in the fire brigade and stationed locally, we opposed most, if not all such plans, but they kept on coming. The ramps in Appletree ave and Royal Lane really do mess up the southern approach to Hillingdon Hospital, so those en route to A&E with painful and shock sensitive injuries have to risk the bumps or take a longer route. Madness

maybe a chicane type obstruction would be better!!

or perhaps go back to basics and have Policemen on the street with pens notepads, rather than in the nick doing paperwork and fiddling the crime statistics
