I have tried to introduce a new member to this topic but it seems he is having problems registering which is a shame, not least because he is far more knowledgable than me on weather related matters. Persevering though.

The band of rain that the North West is seeing will move south east overnight and pass through Yorkshire, down through the Midlands and into Dorset. “But it will be a lot weaker and by Monday afternoon will have fizzled out into nothing, with many places enjoying quite a dry and bright day with temperatures of about 10 or 11 degrees.” Mr Powell said further wet weather was expected to hit Wales and the South West of England on Tuesday and Wednesday, before the arrival of drier conditions. He said: “Monday night through to Tuesday there will be a band of rain pushing from the West, but it will pass through quickly in about six hours and won’t give huge amounts of rainfall.

“On Wednesday night another band of rain will push its way from the West, but again will pass through quite quickly. “I don’t think it’s going to make things any worse for the flood victims, but it will slow up the drying out process.” And Mr Powell had good news for next month, predicting a period of much more settled weather – and even some sun. He said: “After next weekend we should start to pick up something a bit more settled. It will be a little bit colder, but brighter and drier. “Going forward into March it looks like we are in for a spell of calmer conditions, which will be good news for many.”

Well today at midday when I ventured out of the house for a meeting at work, I couldn't believe the fantastic weather, so down came the roof and a bit of 80's music (Katrina and the wave) put me in a fab mood ready for my dire project lessons learnt presentation.

I don't suppose February is the best time of the year to be forecasting weather as it can be so unpredictable and changeable.
