When you could OPEN things???

I bought a packet of peanuts and all I wanted to do was open them and eat them. But nowaday, it's just IMPOSSIBLE to open these stupid vacuum sealed packets they put everything in. You cannot pull them open, and increasingly you can't tear them open either, because whatever this stuff is the packets are made from is too strong.

I had to go and find a pair of scissors in the end.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Oh and another thing: why is it that the important information on every packet and box (like the cooking istructions for example) is printed in tiny, weeny, microscopic type, no matter how big the box or packet is???? (Never used to bother me, but has for the last year or so  )

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

I find things from B&Q for example in the thick plastic wrappers that fit the product like a glove but also very well sealed at the edges.

Difficult to get them out and you need to be very careful. On the occasion when it's faulty and has to go back I take the whole lot back with multiple pieces of clear plastic - just to be awkward.

Perhaps a sign of age Jon? Joking apart I agree with you. I bought a Gillette razor plus blades - I would have grown a beard before being able to open the packet - you always need a pair of scissors on hand nowadays!

Remember KitKats where the silver foil inside a paper sleeve was just wrapped round and not sealed ?

I don't think KitKat tastes as nice as it once did since Nestle took over.
Rowntrees, Fry's, Cadbury's all now part of huge global conglomerates .... shame really

The French don't allow their iconic brands to go into foreign ownership. How come we do.

A lot of candy wrappers or cookie wrappers, not all, have a starter nick in the wrapper, you might need a magnifying glass to find it.

If it's the type of packaging with a seal at the ends, plus one down the centre of the back. The trick, is to hold the bag by the end seam close to the centre seam. Then with the other hand, take the centre seam close to where you are holding it and pull it down with a bit of a twist.

I was thinking about this packaging issue, isn't it strange how they've made it more difficult to open packets of razors or sweets yet made it easier to open a bottle of wine by the introduction of a screw top!
