I have written to Mr Umunna, by email, explaining that this over-the-hill, illiterate, has-been UKIP voter was using micro-processors, writing computer code, and sending/receiving electronic messages BEFORE Mr Umunna was even a gleam in his daddy's eyes. I also mentioned that the email I sent him was composed and sent from a PC that I fully built myself a couple of years ago.

The thing is Kremmen, this man wouldn't run anywhere, he would crash at the first hurdle. Mr Umunna and his political colleagues have probably only ever been familiarised / 'trained' in the use of Microsoft packages. They see MS as the entirety of the computer world. Present them with anything that isn't MS or PC-based and they would revert to type, as the blundering blithering idiots they truly are. Even the deeper intricacies of MS would blow them out of the water.

Oops! I for one wasn't advertising 'talent' or skills Jon. It annoys me that the younger generation, with encouragement from the political class, are continually under-valuing the older generation.

I'm in my 'decrepit' 70's. I don't know how old Kremmen is, but we do know he is looking to retire in the near future. And I've no idea how old Geezer is, but he comes across as a competent and knowledgeable person with considerable experience and maturity. The point is, any engineering-based technical persons who have worked in digital electronics and software, and are in their 60s and 70's, have possibly played some part in bringing the current digital technologies to market that the under 40's now take for granted. And it is the under 40's who are frequently disparaging towards their elders, as in the case of 35 year old Chuka Umuuna.

Every generation has to build upon the acquired knowledge, successes, discoveries, and inventions of previous generations. Unfortunately, we now have a younger generation that has been encouraged to believe that they possess special skills and abilities that no previous generation was capable of. We have a generation of natural born 'experts' in everything that are too often hard-pressed to boil a kettle of water, or bang a nail into a wall; a generation that suffers from an acute shortage of common sense. A generation that is rapidly being led to accept the destruction of the 'untrainable', 'uneconomic', and inconvenient elderly.

I started out in the mid 80's on a HP3000 midframe unit. This was before PC's came into regular use. When PC's did come along we got them mainly for documentation (user manuals)

At that time PC's were DOS and Windows was just becoming of age. Well before Win95 which was the first transformation that made things easier.

As problems arose we fixed them and that helped us stay abreast of what was happening. Also at that time I got a home PC as games like Doom, F15 Strike Eagle, Gunship, Dune and a few others were coming out. To run some of these took some PC manipulation to overcome the base memory issue. I used QEMM as that did a lot of it for you.

Since then I've stayed up to date with PC's and what's good and bad and how to stay safe.

The younger generation have been brought up with technology of all kinds and could likely run rings round me on tablets and smartphones but I've enjoyed the journey.
