Quote:
BBC journalists are being sent on courses to stop them inviting so many cranks onto programmes to air ‘marginal views’

The BBC Trust on Thursday published a progress report into the corporation’s science coverage which was criticised in 2012 for giving too much air-time to critics who oppose non-contentious issues.

The report found that there was still an ‘over-rigid application of editorial guidelines on impartiality’ which sought to give the ‘other side’ of the argument, even if that viewpoint was widely dismissed.

A few hundred years ago mainstream scientists thought the sun orbited the earth and that vaccination dangerous and the work of the devil...

Science advances one death at a time whereas religion does not advance at all.

Topics on which you are not allowed to question the establishment opinion on the BBC (and to be fair, most other media outlets). Questioning these in any way marks you out as an ignorant bigoted racist simpleton, and you can be safely ignored. QED. It really is a shame, because they are actually relatively interesting topics.

Climate change

European Union

House prices

Immigration

You will appreciate my candour

.... and I thought we lived in a democracy! ;) Who funds the left-wing BBC? We the taxpayers! In my view it should be broken up and privatised, it's a left-wing propaganda mouthpiece.

I was watching the BBC 1 TV breakfast show the other morning and the reporter John McGuire was talking about some environmental issue and finished by saying "..... of course this is due to climate change."
I felt like shouting "no it isn't, stop drip-feeding me this climate chnage propaganda!"

The BBC is an absolute disgrace in the way that it promotes and propagates such nonesense at our expense!

In my view the sooner the BBC is broken up and privatised the better, it seems to be a law unto itself. The BBC Trust is a toothless quango of nonentities that sit on their hands doing nothing but enjoying the perks and salaries. The top & middle management are all paid-up members of the left-wing liberal brigade who abhor anything that interferes with their blinkered and exclusive vision of the world.

Yep, I've been keeping a temperature spreadsheet for many years now and the trendline is almost flat. They make out it's rapidly heading upwards.

I don't think it's accurate, but, it's the same max/min thermometer that been hanging at the back of my garage(outside) always in the shade under a canopy, so the comparisons are accurate. I think it under reads by about 2°C

I'm certain it's a lot more reliable than the deceptions of the IPCC.

I agree with Jon. Your site and thermometer potentially has far more reliability, repeatability, and far less variation in the local conditions than some of the IPCC measuring sites.

At some measuring sites the IPCC use, the type of measuring equipment employed over their monitoring periods has been changed (repeatability is lost), the location has been moved, and the local environment has knowingly been changed in such a way as to produce higher measured temperatures; examples include sites that were once in open countryside that are now surrounded by black tarmac in a built-up area (heat island effect), and in some cases the measuring equipment has been found to now be in the exhaust flow of air-conditioning plant. The IPCC have even gone so far as to remove a large number of sites that indicate a lowering of temperature, from their 'data sets'. which very effectively raises their average global temperatures. But such inconvenient facts won't get in the way of the BBC's biased and deceptive reporting.

Funnily enough B&Q are still selling (if it was in stock) the one I've got:

http://www.diy.com/nav/garden/garden-ca ... r-10278331

Bottom 2 digital windows show the current max/min and can be reset on demand, which I do on the first of each month whilst logging the previous month
