Blimey - That was one big storm this morning.

The BBC are reporting the A40 closed and 6 cars stuck in floodwater in Uxbridge

I now have an Olympic size pool in my back garden!

I have just seen the one-hour rainfall totals for the storms on the morning of the 28/7

Below you can see some of the highest recorded hourly rainfall totals from Environment Agency rain gauges through the morning of Monday 28th July 2014:

Great Dunmow Essex 43 mm (4am to 5am)
Isfield Sussex 37 mm (8.30am to 9:30am)
Ardingly Sussex 35 mm (8.30am to 9:30am)
Santon Downham Suffolk 33mm (4am to 5am)
Weirwood Sussex 28 mm (9am to 10am)
Northolt London 20mm (7am to 8am)

All that chaos locally, and all for less than an inch of rain!!! (Mind you, that's around a fortnight's rain in an hour!)

Crazy isn't it that an inch of rain can cause those floods.

Good evening all, apologies for my extended absence.....and many thanks to everyone who keeps reading and posting on this topic.

I have just returned from a 2 week hiatus on the very sunny, but occasionally stormy South Coast, all part of my preparations for a permanent move down there which will hopefully go ahead by the end of August.

I have lots of catching up to do, but July certainly provided some interesting weather events for our region. I will try and post some details in due course, and also look at the prospects for the next few days. In the meantime have a great weekend whatever the weather.

Moley 8-)

Hello Mr Moley :D,

Weather has been fine overall, but clouds have built on and off during the day. Still rather breezy but feeling cooler.

Kind regards
Jan
