What I've been thinking for years.

Heathrow already causes other transport gridlock so spread the load

The main culprit here is the Heathrow management team who are presumably paid on growth and have none in sight.

Well i have found at heathrow and gatwick , the early morning flights are booked up , in the week
i want to fly out early , and come back late afternoon.
if there were more flights it would be cheaper,
even a holiday flight is hard , i want to fly out early , and fly back at the end , to get back in the afternoon
not fly out late evening , and fly back late

I flew back from Germany once. Took an hour to reach Kent, then spent an hour circling Kent waiting to land.
