Sad to see the golden cross pub has finally gone, it struggled for many years, but sadly it is no more.
on a good note though, it is being replaced by flats, bringing affordable homes to the people of Hayes, hahahahahaha, it will be interesting on my walk home everyday, once they are built, to see just HOW MANY Local HAYES BORN AND BRED will actually benefit, bet that will be a big fat zero nil nada, no doubt after they are 'let' i will need to find another route home as i am sure it will be like a rubbish dump within days/weeks

Finding folk who aren't too embarrassed to admit to being ''Hayes born and bred'' might be a problem :P

with all the building of 'social', affordable and private housing complexes in Blyth Road, now the Golden Cross site, the Avis building in Clayton Road, the town will be full of the same people housed at Station Approach - not of this nation, although poor and unable to fend for themselves properly, they soon have children, British Children and eligible for all manner of support and benefit from the state.

No disrespect, just intrigued, what is there to be proud of exactly ? It's not like being a Geordie or a Scouser with a distinctive accent, culture, football team or heritage to feel part of. :?:

None taken, I thought everyone was proud of places of birth, having been shipped out to many places in the world, seen some pretty bad Hell Holes, I know you think Hayes is bad, its Paradise, naturally Yeading is better, we have managed to keep some of open spaces & being where we are is great, while anything North of the A 40 gets all the good news & support from those in the Civic Centre, those South of the Uxbridge get branded as the no go areas, the dumping ground & plenty of visit from the boys in blue , while we are left to plod on as we have since 750, how old is Hayes, youngest to Yeading.
London was built out of Yeading Dirt, the brickfields of Yeading making the bricks. As for accent, know fact West London people born & brad speak the best English & clearest than an other part of the U.K. As for football team we did have a great team, till someone one decided Hayes needed support & took our team.

Be happy, be proud no one else is anymore.
