** UPDATED MONDAY MARCH 19th 2012 **

............ With High Pressure again taking charge the signs are for a mostly settled and benign** week weather wise, with temperatures slowly rising as the week progresses. We could see some parts of our region reaching 18-20c ( 64-68f ) towards the end of the week as a southerly airflow takes hold.............

Raf Northolt reported an official 18.4c ( 65f ) today ( Thursday ) so it looks as though the weather is playing ball with the predictions. The average maximum temperature in the London area this time of year is around 8-10c ( 47-50f ), so we are some way above that.

The rainfall threat has drifted further west again, so still looks like missing us here in an area that really could do with it. Some parts of the South West were reporting dust deposits today, as the winds are now from the south, its more than likely that dust was being carried up from the Sahara. Radar and satellite images seem to confirm that.

Fingers crossed that this warm and fairly sunny weather can continue into the weekend, although Friday may well see a bit more in the way of cloud.

Thanks for reading and posting. Moley 8-)

Quite foggy down here in Surrey this morning. Even 30mph was over-doing it.

Friday turned out to be less cloudy than I thought, and it seems Northolt reached a maximum of 21.1c ( 70f ) today. Thats pretty warm for March. I don't see any signs of a major change for this weekend, so go out and enjoy the weather while it lasts, and don't forget to put the clocks forward one hour to British Summer Time.

I will just say this though. If you are planning to enjoy the weather outdoors this weekend, please bear in mind that much of our region is tinderbox dry. This report from the Hastings Observer is a timely reminder :

Be careful out there, and thanks as always for reading and posting. Moley 8-)

Was thinking how grotty Ann's car looked when we left for home this morning; left Daughters in beautiful warm sunshine then drove in to a nice ` Gully Washer ' which cleaned the car just great.

Thanks Moley.

I think summer has arrived! Started doing some gardening, but it's too hot!

^^ As you probably know SOT I generally look about 3-4 days ahead, that being a fairly reliable time span but I'll make an exception in your case.

Unless something completely unforseen and dramatic suddenly happens, it looks as though you could hardly have chosen a better week !! I will expand on this later today, my attention is drawn to the live match at the moment.

Don't be fooled Pam. Have you read my post on the previous page ?? Here it is again, and was dated March 19th.

" I have spent some time browsing through the various weather websites Im a member of, and there seems to be growing agreement that as we head towards and into April, the 'blocking pattern' of weather we have been experiencing for what seems like months on end may well change in the coming weeks.

Last April was a record breaker for warmth and sunshine for us in London and The South East. The odds now seem to be stacked in favour of this April being a bit of a shocker by comparison. Cold, wet and windy anyone ?

Of course its far from certain this far out, thats why its known as FI ( Fantasy Island ) in weather websites, but I thought it worth mentioning."

**UPDATED SATURDAY MARCH 24TH 2012**

Thats a VERY big ask at this time of year SOT but you might just be in luck. High Pressure and the blocking pattern seems firmly in control, and reluctant to shift too far for the next week.

It will tend to drift a little to the north and west, and that will introduce a more south-easterly airflow. For London and The South East that could lead to slightly lower temperatures and a bit more in the way of cloud than we have had today, especially for coastal areas. I think maximum temperatures inland for our region will still reach a very respectable 17-19c for much of the week, ( possibly higher ) but it will be cooler on the coasts. Overnight fog may become a problem, and for rural areas frost is always possible.

You will be pleased to know SOT, that in this set up-up, west is best. The Cotswolds look likely to be in a prime location for the least cloud and warmest temperatures for most of the week. As far as the South of England in general is concerned, I see no signs of any much needed rainfall throughout the week. The drought goes on.

I was chatting with my neighbour earlier today as we stood in the warm sunshine. They didn't believe me when I said don't be too suprised if we see snow at Easter. April is still shaping up to deliver a shock or two, and that pattern has been showing for some time now.

Whatever the weather, enjoy the rest of this glorious weekend, and thanks again for reading and posting.
