Sorry Jane , only an inch or 2 now, it's the cold weather

I've noticed the BBC weather has always just given us a single snowflake on the picture charts which doesn't indicate it will be too bad.

Its almost impossible to say at the moment Jane.

The cold block to our east is very reluctant to give way, and the Atlantic fronts approaching from the west appear to be running out of steam. As things stand right now, I would hesitate to predict anything beyond 6-12 hours.

Friday morning, so far +1°C and all clear

I'm keeping an eye on it from out here in leafy Surrey. One sign of the reported blizzard and I'm on my way home. I reckon the M25 could be a car park later.

Its only just started snowing down here in Hastings but further north, ( Hants/Surrey border, West London ) reports are saying its been snowing for much of the morning.

Accumulations don't seem to be amounting to much yet 2-4 cms ( less than 2 inches ) but it could continue for a few more hours yet. There is some concern now for further heavy snow on Sunday. The radar has been crashing for much of the morning so its difficult to see up to the minute details, but the roads could be a problem later today.

Drive safely folks and pay attention to any warnings.

I think I can safely confirm that it is snowing! It's about 6ins on our garden table!
