When you could OPEN things???

I bought a packet of peanuts and all I wanted to do was open them and eat them. But nowaday, it's just IMPOSSIBLE to open these stupid vacuum sealed packets they put everything in. You cannot pull them open, and increasingly you can't tear them open either, because whatever this stuff is the packets are made from is too strong.

I had to go and find a pair of scissors in the end.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Oh and another thing: why is it that the important information on every packet and box (like the cooking istructions for example) is printed in tiny, weeny, microscopic type, no matter how big the box or packet is???? (Never used to bother me, but has for the last year or so  )

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

I thought it was just me, so I take solace from the fact I am not alone. The difficulty opening packets is bad enough, but the miniscule cooking instructions on foodstuffs is a real problem. I realise and accept that eyesight deteriorates with age, and I try and compensate with that by buying glasses but I have recently bought food products that have cooking instructions so small that I would struggle to read them using a Hubble telescope.

So many companies these days seem to literally rely on the 'small print' get out clause. I would call that discrimination against those of us with diminishing eyesight. Seriously, this is an issue which should be addressed.

I've bought reading glasses but for reading the cooking instructions on some microvable chilled meals I've now purchased a magnifying glass which I keep next to the microwave oven. Sad really, but necessary.
I hate it when I buy a chilled meal to microwave and later find out by reading on the back of the packet that it is best heated in a conventional oven. I've got to wait a whole 20-30 mins! A man could starve in that time.
Another thing is that when serving a microwaved meal you go to peel back the film and it'll never just peel back in one tidy piece, no, it decides to tear in strips and you have to get a knife to cut round the edge to get your lasagne out.

Rich Kid... we keep a magnifying glass handy too! It gets used constantly. It's just CRAZY.

I too find it a pain trying to open some packages...
But my biggest bugbear is the "cooking Instructions" as Jon mentioned. Tiny font so small it's unreadable with the naked eye..

I got a Rolson magnifying glass with built in LED lights. That has proved to be so useful and I recommend it.
